Hydrating and energising, this watermelon and pineapple smoothie is a great afternoon pick-me-up for kids that have been running around the garden.
300g Watermelon chopped into 4cm pieces
100g Pineapple – ripe. Chopped into 3 cm pieces
A handful of mint – approx. 5 g
3 – 5 ice cubes
Makes 3 glasses
Add all ingredients to a blender – whizz!
Tip: If you have extra fruit in the house just chop it up, put it in a suitable freezing container and freeze it. Use frozen fruit for the smoothie and omit the ice cubes. No need to waste! You could use frozen watermelon in place of ice cubes.
How kids can help
- Ask your helper to put the chopped fruit into the blender – be sure the power is off and the blade is safe.
